Fr Warren’s Farewell
On Saturday, Nov 5th we farewelled Fr Warren with a Parish Mass led by students and supper afterwards. On behalf of the Parish, Mrs Russell led us in a blessing for Fr Warren, and I presented him with a gift to say thank you on behalf of the school and parish. Please see photos below. By the time you read this newsletter, Fr Peter will have returned to Charleville. He will lead Parish Mass on Sunday, 13 November at 8am. We’d love to see lots of St Mary’s families there to welcome him back. All are welcome!
Prayer Assemblies
Yr 2 will present their Prayer Assembly about Covenant this Friday, November 11th at 11:05am in the PAH. As it will also be Remembrance Day, students will begin assembly with a minutes silence. Yr 3 and Prep will present their Prayer Assemblies in the coming weeks. We are especially looking forward to the Prep Nativity Prayer Assembly, a highlight of our liturgical calendar!
Yr 6 Graduation Liturgy
Our Yr 6 class will lead a Graduation Liturgy in the Church on Tuesday, 22nd November at 5:30pm. All members of the school community are welcome.
End of Year Liturgy
Our end of year liturgy (where Captains for 2023 are announced) will be Thursday, December 1st at 9am in the Church. This liturgy will be led by our in-coming leaders of 2023. It’s always a lovely liturgy and I encourage you to please come if you can.

Hi Families!
Here we are in Week 6.
As we come to the end of the term and the year, I thought I would share with you one of my favourite videos about my all-time favourite topic. I know, I am really interested in the boring things in life. They truly do fascinate me. This of course is how the sounds of our language are created in our mouth.
My question to you is, what are consonants and vowels and how do you know the difference between the two?
Please watch this video for some ideas!

If you are keen, jump on to this anonymous FORM. I would love to hear your responses!
Stay tuned next fortnight for an answer and some information about the upcoming student reports.

Hello St Mary’s Families,
We are fast approaching the end of our swimming block and what a terrific few weeks it has been. I am so impressed with our lower primary students and the confidence they are showing in the water. Next week, I am looking forward to our upper primary students demonstrating their swimming survival skills as part of their final competency in swimming and water safety.
Big thanks to all the parent helpers who have braved the cold water and joined us to support student learning. You have all been fabulous! From spotting, to dressing, to working in the water – thank you!
Please note that nomination forms for our upcoming twilight swimming carnival will be sent home at the end of this week. I would like to request that parents fill out the nomination form and return by the end of week seven. If you have any questions about our upcoming swimming carnival, please send me an email.
Have a great week!

DANCE
Our students have nailed their choreography, and how fabulous they were! We got to see a total of 32 dances this week, and the variety and creativity of these performances blew me away.
As we wrap up our assessments the students have been working hard on a dance for Awards Night, and we are very excited to share it with you!
CHOIR
Our choir has been working hard on our performances for the end of the year. We will have the opportunity to perform at school and in our community. More information will be sent home to choir members in the next week, detailing these events.
We have been building up a repertoire of music, including - Try Everything, Little Donkey, Away in a Manger, Charleville, Look to the Stars, and I Can Sing a Rainbow. Last week some choir members auditioned for a solo. While not everyone got a role, I wish I could reward everyone, because I am so very proud of each of them.
Prep News
Hip Hip hooray, we are over halfway!!!
What another crazy two weeks we have had in our prep classroom.
We took a walk around the school and wore red on Friday 28th October to raise awareness for Day for Daniel. Students then came back into the classroom to complete the national safety lesson presented by the Morcombe Foundation.
We also had a huge success on that Friday where 4 acts from prep presented their talent to the whole school community. It was a massive success, and we are beyond proud of our students who gave it a go. A big congratulations to one of the prep teams who received an award.
On Tuesday we were busy making our horses and Melbourne Cup jockey hats for our school parade. This was an awesome hit, and I was impressed at how students took this role very seriously.
In prep we have another 2 weeks of busy and intense learning occurring with students putting their knowledge into their final assessment items.
I hope you all have a fabulous two weeks.
Thanks,
Imogen
